But, since this one is well loved by his current person, I'd settle for one just like him.S, bless him, took these pictures for me because he knows I adore Basset Hounds. Like, seriously, ADORE them. If I had gone into the hardware store where this guy was, I would've SAT ON THE FLOOR to scrunch those ears and kiss that nose.

We had a basset hound when I was a baby. My favorite baby pictures were taken with him. He had a great name too - Apothecary McDuff (Duffy). (My family ran a drug store.)
They just look like the perfect dogs for neighborhood walks, don't they?
I can completely understand your adoration. I just *love* them. I have already informed my dear husband that when we have a place with a yard, we will be getting two bassett hounds. I have their names picked out and everything. ;o)
