Saturday cruisin'
I just spent a gorgeous Saturday afternoon doing this, while riding in this:
This 2007 SRT Magnum was modified/painted/whatever by West Coast Customs. My friend PC owns it. It's a ton of fun to ride around in but there's not a lot of headroom in the back seat [S, the lucky dog, got to drive it all day, PC rode shot-gun - I got the back seat] so with it's super-sporty suspension, I spent most of the day hunched over so as not to bang my head on the chopped roof.
(By the way, you don't know what fun is until you get two hetero males blasting this song with the hatch-gate open while cruising down the road.)
(S is addicted to Lady Gaga.)
(No, I'm not lying.)

Friday night conversations
Me: It's the longest day of the year.
S: Yes, but do you know what that means?
Me: It's the first day of Summer.
S: Yes, but do you know what that means?
Me: Um....that there will be sunlight until about 10:30.
S: Yes, but do you know what that means?
Me: ???
S: The days are only going to get shorter. We're that much closer to cold and fucking snow.
Jesus. The pessimism rolling off him was palpable.

An old favorite revisited
Shine
David Gray
I can see it in your eyes
What I know in my heart is true
That our love it has faded
Like the summer run through
So we'll walk down the shoreline
One last time together
Feel the wind blow our wanderin' hearts
Like a feather
But who knows what's waiting
In the wings of time
Dry your eyes
We’re gonna go where we can shine
Don't be hiding in sorrow
Or clinging to the past
With your beauty so precious
And the season so fast
No matter how cold the horizon appear
Or how far the first night
When I held you near
We’re gonna rise from these ashes like a bird of flame
Take my hand
We're gonna go where we can shine
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na
Shine
For all that we struggle
For all we pretend
You know it don't come down to nothing
Except love in the end
And ours is a road that is strewn with goodbyes
But as it unfolds, as it all unwinds
Remember your soul is the one thing
You can't compromise
Step out of the shadow
We're gonna go where we can shine
We're gonna go where we can shine
We're gonna go where we can shine
(And look, and look and look and look)
Through the windows of midnight
Moonfoam and silver

Flipped
I scoured the trailer for a glimpse of S's Impala. Didn't see it but who cares?! I can't wait to see this movie.

Mini-break
As a home owner, it seems a bit weird to abandon my own house for the one I grew up in.
But the little small-town girl in me?
Loves it.
PS - my folks have cable TV. There's so much to choose from, I don't know what I want to watch! Who knew that so much choice would be paralyzing? Right now it's Jonathan Ross on BBC America - he has the most adorable lisp ever.
